Family intervention services
Intervention planning that prepares the whole family
Thoughtful, virtual planning and coordination to help your family approach a loved one with clarity, compassion and a plan.
What intervention planning involves
An intervention is not a single dramatic conversation. The most important work happens before anyone approaches your loved one. We help your family:
- Understand the condition and what treatment can realistically offer
- Agree on shared goals, messages and boundaries
- Choose an approach that fits your family and your loved one
- Plan who will be involved, and when, where and how
- Line up suitable treatment options in advance, so a “yes” can be acted on quickly
- Prepare for different responses, including “no”
Approaches we can help you understand
There is no single right way to intervene. Families commonly consider:
- Invitational approaches, which openly invite the loved one into the process from the start.
- Family-training approaches such as CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), which teach families communication and reinforcement skills that encourage a loved one toward treatment over time.
- Structured interventions, usually led by a professional interventionist, in which family members share prepared messages at a planned meeting.
We’ll help you weigh these honestly, including their limitations, in light of your family’s situation.
How we work
We provide intervention planning and coordination virtually, through video meetings and remote coordination. When a qualified intervention professional is needed, we help you identify and coordinate with one; their services and fees are agreed separately and disclosed to you in advance. We do not currently offer in-person interventions or transportation services.
Safety comes first. Involve qualified professionals before any intervention if there is a history of violence or weapons, talk of suicide, a risk of dangerous withdrawal (for example from alcohol or benzodiazepines), or serious medical or psychiatric symptoms.
If anyone may be in immediate danger, call 911.
What we can’t promise
No one can guarantee that an intervention will succeed, that a loved one will agree to treatment, or that a facility will admit them. Adults generally have the right to make their own treatment decisions. Involuntary treatment is possible only in limited circumstances, through lawful processes in the relevant state or country, and it is never something a family or facility can simply authorize.
If your loved one says no
A “no” is common, and it isn’t the end. We help families keep communication open, hold healthy boundaries, look after their own well-being, and keep treatment options ready for when the answer changes.
Fees
Family Intervention & Coordination starts at $3,000. Because every family’s situation is different, we provide an individual quote after a consultation, and the scope, timeline and refund terms are set out in a written agreement.
